It won't help your curve much if you buy and play this on turn 1. But what you can do is buy this on turn 1 and hold it in your hand until turn 2. That way you will have 6 gold on turn 3 (normally only 5) to either buy 2 minions or level up (3on3).
The exception to the rule "don't play this on turn 1" is if there is a coin in the tavern. That way, you can play the busker, freeze the tavern, level on turn 2 and grab the coin. This way you're still well setup for 3-on-3 or a double buy on turn 3.
